A newly leaked internal document from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that as the Delta coronavirus variant rapidly spreads across the United States, it appears to cause more severe illness and can be transferred as easily as chickenpox.
According to CNN, the document formatted as a slide presentation outlined previously unpublished data that revealed that fully vaccinated people could potentially spread the Delta variant at the same rate as the unvaccinated.
The Washington Report claims that CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky confirmed the document’s authenticity and the validity of its findings.
“I think people need to understand that we’re not crying wolf here. This is serious,” Walensky told CNN.
“It’s one of the most transmissible viruses we know about. Measles, chickenpox, this — they’re all up there.”
Walensky’s recently changed the guidance for fully vaccinated people. On Tuesday, the CDC announced recommendations that even fully vaccinated people wear masks indoors in places where transmission of the virus is high.
