An Indiana mother is accused of fatally shooting her husband and forcing her children to help her dispose of the body.
Thessalonica Allen, 34, is facing a half-dozen charges in connection to the murder. Her charges include murder, abuse of a corpse, and child neglect. She is scheduled to appear in court for an initial hearing on Friday.
According to police, two of the children heard a loud bang and saw Randy Allen lying on the ground. He asked them to call 911, but their mother told them not to. Thessalonica then put the body in her daughter’s closet.
Later that night, police say she woke the kids in the middle of the night so they could help her carry the body out to the car. They were unable to do so since the body weighed too much for them to carry.
She reportedly used an ax to cut off Randy’s legs the next day and had her children help put him in a bag. Thessalonica also had them help her clean up the crime scene. She planned to put him in his car and light it on fire.
An autopsy revealed that Randy had been shot in the spinal cord and was unable to move. The medical examiner concluded he likely bled to death.
During the investigation, Thessalonica told police she shot her husband because he had abused her. When they searched her apartment, they discovered the body and a hand-written to-do list with notes such as “spray sh*t in the face, hit him in the knee with a hammer,” and “roll up the body in sheets and plastic bags.”
Randy’s family told WCAX they are devastated over his loss.
“When I was told, I just started screaming. I lost it,” Randy’s aunt, Patricia Blanton, told the outlet. “Can’t imagine what the kids are going through.”
