Lil Wayne Opens Up About the Challenges of Putting on a Festival During a Pandemic

As coronavirus cases surge, Lil Wayne opened up to the Los Angeles Times about the challenges facing the live event industry ahead of his Uproar Festival. 

The Festival is scheduled for Friday at the L.A. Coliseum and is one of the larger music festivals in the city since the start of the pandemic. The spread of the highly contagious Delta variant also remains a concern.

A representative for the Festival told the outlet that the event would adhere to all state and local COVID-19 guidelines. However, the promoters are not requiring attendees to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test. They only recommend it. 

“We’re doing all the things we’re supposed to do. At the end of the day, if we can provide a safe and productive show, then it’s a success,” Weezy said.

Elsewhere in the interview, Wayne touched on DaBaby’s controversy. He admitted he was not aware of the homophobic comments the rapper made but noted the spotlight on celebrities is “absolutely crazy.”
