Three Ohio brothers died after passing out from fumes in a manure pit they were trapped in.
St. Henry fire Chief Matt Lefeld said the men were fixing a manure pump on their livestock farm and passed out after being overcome by fumes.
Rescue crews found them unresponsive and unable to move Tuesday afternoon, NBC News reported.
Gary, Todd, and Brad Wuebker were transported to the hospital and later pronounced dead.
Manure pits are commonly used on livestock farms and store waste later used as fertilizer on fields. However, manure pits can be dangerous because they can produce toxic gases, including hydrogen sulfide, methane, carbon monoxide, and ammonia.
