Frito-Lays have recalled its Wavy Lay’s Original potato chips over “undeclared milk ingredients” that could harm people with dairy allergies.
As part of a voluntary recall, the company has recalled 31 Wavy Lay’s Original bags sold in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.
“The recall is the result of an investigation following a consumer contact,” the company said in a statement. “Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume product contained inside the recalled bags.”
As a result of the undeclared milk ingredients, no allergic reactions have been reported but the company advises consumers to avoid eating the chips and to throw away the bags immediately.
“Guaranteed Fresh” dates for the 7.75-ounce (219.7 gram) product version are November 2 or October 19, 2021.

“Undeclared milk ingredients” are the cause of Frito Lay’s second product recall this year, following the recall of Ruffles All Dressed chips in May. “Inadvertently filled with another flavor of potato chips, potentially exposing consumers to undeclared milk” was the reason for the recall.
Since Congress passed the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act in 2004, milk, along with eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans, must be declared on food packaging.
