Two Male Tourists Arrested in Hawaii for Forging Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination

Tourists in Hawaii have been arrested for allegedly forging proof of their COVID-19 vaccination.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. And that price is a $5,000 fine, which was issued to two travelers by the state of Hawaii after they allegedly decided that it was a good idea to falsify their vaccination cards.

According to USA Today, Norbert Chung, 57, and Trevor Chung, 19, were taken into custody at Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye Airport on Sunday. Officials say the two males broke the state’s Safe Travels program, which allows people to travel into the U.S. and U.S. territories without having to participate in a required 10-day quarantine. But, that is only if they provide proof of vaccination.

Their arrests came after authorities received a tip from someone before the two males arrived in the state. USA Today reports the tourists were arraigned Thursday morning.

“The Department of the Attorney General will investigate and prosecute those who cheat the Safe Travels program, which was established to keep our islands safe,” spokesperson Gary Yamashiroya in a statement.
