A parent allegedly assaulted a teacher at Sutter Creek Elementary School during a dispute over their child having to wear a mask at school.
The altercation happened last Wednesday on campus, shortly after the first day of school ended in the Amador County town.
After the dispute, the teacher was left with cuts and lacerations and was treated at a local hospital then released Wednesday night.
Amador County Unified School District Superintendent Torie Gibson said the male parent also verbally assaulted the school’s principal when he spotted his daughter walking out of a school building with a mask on. When a male teacher stepped in to calm the situation, it escalated into a physical altercation.
