During FX’s Television Critics Association presentation on Friday, the network’s chairman announced that hit TV show Atlanta will be back on the small screen at the beginning of next year.
“We haven’t locked down the scheduling for Season 3 yet as it just finished shooting—it’s shot primarily in Europe,” John Landgraf said. “It’s in post-production, and it’s a lengthy post-production process, and part of that is because they’re currently in production of Season 4 in Atlanta. All the scripts for that season have been written, and I absolutely adore the scripts for both seasons.”
Landgraf said the show’s upcoming season is currently in post-production, and scheduling has been tricky. Apparently, post-production on Season 3 is also happening at the same time Season 4 is shooting.
“I did list it as one of the things coming back in the first half of 2022; that is our anticipation,” Landgraf added. “I think we’ll be able to lock down an actual date for three and maybe for both cycles within the next couple of months.”
Season 3 was supposed to air sometime in 2019 but was delayed due to scheduling conflicts and then the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The critically acclaimed show stars Donald Glover as college dropout Earn, who takes on managing his cousin and rapper Paper Boi’s budding music career.
