Marlon Wayans Hints at “White Chicks 2”; Says it’s “Necessary”

Actor and comedian Marlon Wayans is down for a “White Chicks” sequel.

The 2004 comedy was an instant success, bringing in over $113 million at the box office. Marlon starred alongside his brother Shawn as a pair of undercover agents who posed as wealthy white women for a case assignment. The film was directed by their older brother, film icon Keenan Ivory Wayans and has remained a cult classic 17 years after its release. Now, Marlon says part two is “necessary.”

“I think we’ve tightened up so much that we need to loosen our ties a bit and laugh a little bit. I don’t think Hollywood understands what a juggernaut White Chicks 2 would be,” Marlon told Variety. He also revealed that his brothers are exploring plenty of ideas for the sequel.

Two years ago, one of the film’s key actors, Terry Crews, confirmed that the sequel was in the works during an appearance on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live.”

“You know what, I actually got with Shawn, and he was like, ‘Man, we doing it. We getting it going,'” Crew stated at the time. His character in the movie, Latrell Spencer, had the most notable and hilarious scene when he famously performed “A Thousand Miles” by Vanessa Carlton to one of the “white chicks” during a date.

While Marlon did not disclose any details regarding when production would begin, he did confirm the film was “writing itself.”
