A Texas woman sued four Houston strip clubs for racially discriminating against her during the six years she worked there.
Chloe Nicholson filed a civil suit against the club’s owners, brothers Ali and Hassan Davari. She is seeking damages, including lost wages.
Nicholson said she was sent home during several of her shifts because “too many Black girls were working.” The suit also alleges the clubs refused to hire her again this summer because of her race.
“At that time, I would just take it,” she told The Houston Chronicle. “I look pretty, I smell good, I make sure I do every time. I can’t scrub my skin off.”
Nicholson is not alone. Other Black women working for the Davari brothers have experienced the same treatment; Nicholson believes there are as many as 20 other strippers. The dancers have combined with Nicholson to file a class-action lawsuit.
She believes the high-end club was trying to keep the number of Black male patrons to a minimum.
Nicholson, a mother of two, is now in charge of a nonprofit that helps women get medically necessary cosmetic surgeries.
