As Lamar Odom continues to open up about his near-fatal overdose in October 2015, the retired NBA professional is now revealing that he believes he was unknowingly drugged.
During his appearance on “Addiction Talk” with host Joy Sutton Wednesday night, the former L.A. Laker maintained that he did not intentionally ingest drugs on that fateful night at the Love Ranch brothel in Las Vegas. Odom says that he was embarrassed to learn what had happened once he awoke from his coma after suffering 12 seizures and six strokes that stopped his heart twice.
“I didn’t take anything that night. I was really hurt and almost in some sense afraid because somebody just tried to take my life,” the 41-year-old explained.
Odom says that the lethal overdose was his “rock bottom” and was the driving force behind him kicking his addiction for good. The NBA champion has never shied away from his struggle with drug abuse that began in 2004 but intensified following the death of his infant son, Jayden, who passed away from SIDS on June 29th, 2006.
Previously, Odom pointed the finger at former Love Ranch owner Dennis Hof for drugging him, claiming on a 2019 episode of “The View” that Hof “tried to kill me,” though he is unsure why. Hof passed away that same year of a heart attack, so whatever secrets he held about that evening died with him.
