A man in California drove his car into workers at a COVID-19 vaccination clinic.
A COVID-19 vaccination clinic in Santa Clarita had to close on Sunday after a man drove his car into two of its workers. According to the New York Post, the incident happened Saturday around 4:45 p.m. Sergeant Dmitry Barkon of the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station told KHTS the suspect began driving into cones, signs, and then employees.
“One of the workers was picking up a sign when they were struck by the vehicle,” Barkon explained. No words were exchanged between the suspects and the victims, according to reports. One worker had to be treated for minor injuries; no one else was harmed.
Police say that categorizing the incident as an assault with a deadly weapon, mentioning they believe the driver ran into the staffers on purpose.
“We are saddened by this terrible incident, and our thoughts and prayers are with the person injured. Public health is working with local authorities, and the vaccination site has closed as the investigation is underway,” wrote L.A. County Public Health in a statement to NBC, the New York Post reports.
