McDonald’s in the United Kingdom are experiencing supply chain issues. Nearly 1,300 restaurants have removed milkshakes and some bottled drinks from their menus.
“We apologize for any inconvenience and thank our customers for their continued patience. We are working hard to return these items to the menu as soon as possible,” a McDonald’s spokesperson said in a statement on Tuesday.
“Like most retailers, we are currently experiencing some supply chain issues, impacting the availability of a small number of products. Bottled drinks and milkshakes are temporarily unavailable in restaurants across England, Scotland, and Wales,” the spokesperson said.
Major companies worldwide have reported supply chain disruptions in recent months, which have created shortages and higher prices.
Industry insiders warn that the flooding in China and Europe will bring shortages and shipping delays during the upcoming holiday season.
“Black Friday and the holiday season, for which products (and raw materials) are being staged, will face the brunt of the impact,” Pawan Joshi, Executive Vice President of E2open, told CNBC.
“Consumer electronics, dorm room furniture, clothing, and appliances will all continue to be in short supply as back to school shopping starts up and will trickle into the peak holiday shopping season,” Joshi said.
“Come Black Friday; we can likely expect to see prices rise for all sorts of goods such as consumer electronics, furniture, apparel, and appliances.”
