Ventura County’s District Attorney Will Review Britney Spear’s Housekeeper’s Allegations Of Battery

Ventura County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an incident that allegedly occurred between Britney Spears and her housekeeper last week.

The county’s prosecutors are now reviewing the misdemeanor battery case brought on by the employee, PEOPLE reported. Blake Heller, a supervisor at the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, confirmed that the case had been handed over to the office on Friday to see if there are possible charges.

Sources close to Spears believe the case would not have gotten this far if it did not involve the star. However, it is routine for small misdemeanor cases to be sent to the DA’s office for consideration.

Last Week, Ventura County Sheriff’s Department’s Captain Eric Buschow confirmed to the outlet that Spears, 39, is a suspect in the battery case. The employee accused the singer of striking them “during a dispute” at her home.

However, the captain declined to “discuss the particulars” of the situation but says it’s considered a misdemeanor battery whenever there is “physical contact” with another person.

A source close to Spears told PEOPLE that the story is a lie and that the pop star didn’t hit anyone.

“The housekeeper was holding her phone and Britney tried to knock it out of her hands,” said the insider.

The whole ordeal allegedly came about after the two got into it over Spears’ dogs’ well-being after the employee went to the veterinarian.

The dogs were reportedly removed from the home, but Spears was “reunited with her dogs before the weekend,” another source claimed.

“Her dogs are a sensitive breed that often has health issues. She has gotten clear instructions about how to care for the dogs now,” the insider said, adding that “the housekeeper no longer works for her.”
