Governor of Oklahoma Offers Kevin Durant Cabinet Position to Stay with Thunder – blogged by @LoveRubyWoo

Oklahoma City is dreading the possibility of losing Thunder star Kevin Durant once NBA free agency begins in July. Durant has played with the Oklahoma City Thunder (formerly the Seattle SuperSonics) for the duration of his nine-year career, but his 5-year contract extension will be up this summer, leaving him with the option to stay with the team for another year or two, sign a max contract, or join another squad altogether. It’s no surprise that there are a multitude of teams who want the 6’9″ forward, and the Warriors and Spurs are rumored to be KD’s most enticing suitors.

The governor of Oklahoma, Mary Fallin, is among those who don’t want to see Durant go, and she has an offer that she hopes will keep him with the Thunder. During a convention over the weekend, Fallin said that if Durant stays with his current team, she is willing to give him a position in her Cabinet.

“If Kevin Durant thinks about leaving, which I hope he doesn’t — Oklahoma loves Kevin Durant, and Kevin Durant loves Oklahoma. But if he’ll stay, I’ll make him a Cabinet person for health and fitness on my Cabinet,” Fallin said.

Though it’s very unlikely that Governor Fallin’s offer will be the difference maker in determining whether the Thunder star stays or goes, it would definitely be interesting to see KD working for the government.
