It’s no secret that Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj have a lot of love for one another. Therefore, the Barbz were hurt to know that the Queen didn’t make it onto Doja’s new single, “Get Into It (Yuh).” However, Nicki explained that she had a very good reason for passing up on the single.
During her Twitter Spaces conversation on Sunday, Nicki revealed that while Doja asked her to bless her latest song, “middle people involved in that situation,” interfered with the two collaborating.
“So I had told her, if it was like how me and BIA were direct and we dealt with each other directly, it would be different,” Onika explained. She also went on to add that she wasn’t in love with the track, to begin with, “because I didn’t think I could bring anything to it.”
The hip-hop icon says that while many artists have reached out to her for a feature, she is not interested in working with people just for the sake of recording. Instead, she wants to “make a moment with them that’s gonna last.”
Nicki Minaj and Doja Cat have previously linked up on the “Say So Remix,” and Doja even shouts out the head Barb at the end of “Get Into It (Yuh).”
