A viral TikTok video shows the aftermath of an Illinois shoplifting incident where the getaway driver left the thief behind.
The video, with the onscreen caption “Wait for it …” along with the text-to-speech feature saying, “When shoplifters take ALL the Nike but forget to unlock the door.”
Posted on Sunday, the video has garnered more than 16 million views and has had a little over 2.2 million likes since it was posted.
The video shows a woman holding a bunch of clothing on hangers trying to get into a car’s rear driver-side door. Another person successfully jumps into the passenger side, and the car speeds off, leaving the shoplifter behind.
You can see an officer pull up, prompting the woman to run away. The officer jumps out of his vehicle to chase her through the parking lot. The video cuts to another clip showing the would-be thief in handcuffs.
