Mercedes-Benz is working on a new vehicle that can be driven using your mind.
The luxury automotive company has developed a brain-computer interface (BCI) device. This gadget is made of electrodes and will help run the vehicle by being installed at the back of the user’s head. Once in place, the BCI will then read the brain waves after a brief calibration process. A digital dashboard will include multiple dots that conduct different duties. A driver will only need to focus on the dot that performs their desired task. The neuronal activity in the brain will then increase and be recorded by the device, activating the function.
The Mercedes Vision AVTR, a concept automobile exhibited at the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, will incorporate this latest innovation. The company calls this milestone driving experience “the future of mobility,” which merges technology, humanity, and nature.
The mind-controlled car will come with vegan leather In its interior, compostable battery technology, and an organic plastic alternative.
Mercedes will give a sneak peek into how mind control can operate vehicles of the future at the IAA Mobility Expo from September 7th to 12th in Munich, Germany.
