ESPN announced Tuesday that the network is teaming up with Drake to curate the music for certain Monday Night Football games this season.
This makes Drake’s SportCenter “hack” to announced Certified Lover Boy seem like even less of a hack. The network says that Drake will feature a combination of his most recent releases, as well as his classics. New music from other artists will also be featured.
The music will run during live telecasts, pre-game shows, and MNF promotional spots. The Toronto rapper will be tasked with providing music for 10 games during the 2021-2022 season, beginning this week.
“Now we are here…the kickoff of the football season,” said Emeka Ofodile, Vice President of Sports Marketing, ESPN. “And who better to curate music for Monday Night Football than Drake, who sits firmly at the intersection of music and sports. We couldn’t be more excited for this upcoming collaboration.”
The network has previously collaborated with DJ Khaled, and Diplo, which Ofodile said has been a big hit with fans.
