An 84-year-old Washington man reportedly shot and killed one of his tenants, and the body has not been found.Â
Lloyd Richmond, 84, was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on suspicion of murder and assault.Â
The Seattle Times reports that the alleged victim was a 49-year-old Everett man who rented a room in Richmond’s house. His identity has not been made public. The missing man was last seen on August 28.
The sheriff’s office said neighbors overheard a verbal altercation between Richmond and another tenant on August 28. Following the argument, the neighbor overheard gunshots.Â
Richmond was spotted using a gray tarp to wrap something in his driveway and put it in his Dodge pickup truck.Â
It is suspected that Richmond removed the body from the residence and brought it elsewhere. ”MCU detectives have not located the victim and believe the suspect transported the victim’s body from the residence,” the sheriff’s department said.
He was later seen using “litter or absorbent” on a red spot in his driveway.
The sheriff’s department was called to the residence for a possible homicide. Investigators were able to collect a sample of the red stain from the driveway. It tested positive for blood.Â
Richmond appeared in court on Tuesday, and a $1 million bail was set. The incident is still under investigation.Â
