Burger King has hopped on the celebrity meals train by adding three new meals to its menu.
Rapper Nelly, Brazilian pop star Anitta, and TikToker/e-boy/singer/Gen Z personality Lil Huddy have secured meals with the fast-food chain.
McDonald’s started the trend with Travis Scott. Then came the J Balvin, BTS, and Saweetie meals, which could be the reason Burger King followed suit with three new celebrity meals.
The three collabs are part of the company’s series dubbed “Keep It Real Meals.”
“We invited celebs to get real with us by having them hand-select food from our Real menu to create meals that are worthy of their real names,” BK stated in a press release.
Nelly’s meal is a classic flame-grilled Whopper topped with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mayo, and ketchup, served with small fries and a small Sprite.
The Impossible™ Whopper–the Larissa Machado (Anitta)–is a meal with lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, and mustard, served with small fries and a small Sprite.
19-year-old Chase Hudson, aka Lil Huddy, has a Meal too. A Spicy Ch’King with cheese served with four-piece mozzarella sticks and a 16-ounce chocolate shake.
The “Real Meals” collection is connected to another BK announcement, the company is “banning” 120 “artificial ingredients” from its food, promoting more “real” ingredients. “We know our guests’ expectations are changing, and they want to make choices they can feel good about,” said Ellie Doty, Chief Marketing Officer, Burger King North America. “By banning these 120 ingredients from our food, we’re offering guests an easy choice – delicious food made with quality ingredients.”
The “ban” doesn’t necessarily change the Burger King menu. A BK spokesperson told The Take Out that the chain started “eliminating artificial ingredients” from its menu in 2015, to serve “the realest food possible.”
The spokesperson also claims that BK has reformulated over 80 products to meet these standards.
