Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has launched Ray-Ban smart glasses.
For $299, you could buy Facebook’s new Ray-Ban smart glasses, glasses that will allow you to take pictures, record videos for up to 30 seconds, listen to music and take phone calls.
The features of the glasses are operated by a voice command function or by simply pressing a button on the right side of the frames. Don’t worry: you’ll be able to see if someone’s recording you; there’s a red LED light that flashes to let a person know when they are being recorded or when a photo is being taken.
When a person is done recording, their content will be saved to their phone with the help of the Facebook View App, where they’ll be able to share it on social media. On top of that, the glasses are equipped with a built-in microphone, small speakers, and Bluetooth.
The smart glasses are currently available for purchase in U.S., Canada, Australia, Ireland, Italy, and the U.K., Facebook said.
“You can kind of think about this as an embodied Internet that you’re inside of rather than just looking at,” Zuckerberg said. “We believe that this is going to be the successor to the mobile Internet.” He continued: “The defining quality of the metaverse is presence, which is this feeling that you’re really there with another person or in another place.”
