Nicki Minaj opened up to her fans about missing the Video Music Awards and Met Gala, revealing she tested positive for COVID-19.
On Monday, the “Your Love” rapper took to Twitter to address her absence at the star-studded events. One fan tweeted a photo of Nicki Minaj, stating that the Barb leader had not been photographed publicly in over a year. Nicki quickly snapped back, writing, “I have an infant with no nannies during COVID. Who mad? Not risking his health to be seen. One yaself.”
After several follow-up tweets, she explained that she contracted COVID-19 at some point while preparing for the VMA’s and shooting a music video. Nicki emphasized how difficult it was for her to be away from her baby boy while quarantining and stated that she experienced the “exact same symptoms as ppl with the damn vaccine.”
This year’s Met Gala required all attendees to be vaccinated, a factor with which the Young Money star was uncomfortable. While Nicki says that she will do more research about the vaccination before getting it, she is not going to be forced to take the shot to attend the Met Gala.
Despite some hesitation, the 38-year-old eventually admitted that she would likely take the shot to continue working.
“I’m sure I’ll b vaccinated as well cuz I have to go on tour, etc.” Nicki wrote.
