Blue Ivy Carter is following in the footsteps of her famous parents by making history as the youngest person to win a Video Music Award.
The nine-year-old vocalist who helped Beyoncé write and record “Brown Skin Girl” got her first VMA moon man when the song’s visual won the award for best cinematography. The ode to girls of color was featured on Bey’s 2019 album “The Lion King: The Gift.” The record was certified gold in December.
Blue previously won a Grammy when the music video won the award for the best music video at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.
Tina Lawson, Beyoncé’s mother, and Blue’s grandmother, shared a screenshot on Instagram of an article about Blue’s accomplishment, congratulating her talented granddaughter.
Blue made her music debut at just two days old when she was featured on Jay-Z’s record “Glory” in 2012. The record features her ultrasound heartbeat and cries toward the end. She was also featured on her father’s 2018 album, “4:44” on the track, “Blue’s Freestyle.”
