Rapper Scarface has successfully undergone a kidney replacement after suffering irreversible damage due to COVID-19.
The procedure is even more remarkable because the rapper’s son, Christopher Jordan, provided the donor’s kidney. Scarface previously shared that a severe bout with coronavirus resulted in him developing pneumonia and kidney failure. He was forced to undergo dialysis treatments. In October, he took to social media to reveal that he was looking for a kidney donor. His friend and fellow artist T.I. even offered a cash reward for a donor.
Christopher shared a photo on Wednesday of him and his father in the hospital and confirmed that the transplant operation was a success.
“Surgery went well. My dad is thriving kidney is working great!!!! Thank you all for the prayers,” he wrote.
Rap-A-Lot Records founder J Prince sent well wishes to the hip-hop veteran in an Instagram post, calling the falling and son “an example of unending love.”
Last year, the 50-year-old spoke with fellow Geto Boys member Willie D about feeling as if he would die once he began to experience life-threatening side effects of the virus and urged fans to take it seriously.
“People out there thinking this sh-t is a game? You don’t want to play with this,” the “Smile” star stated.
