Rapper and mogul 50 Cent is speaking out about the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards failure to award any actors of color in performance categories: “[They] still have a separate bathroom for colored folks.”
This past Sunday night resembled many other awards shows in the last few years: a lack of diversity amongst the actors who snagged a trophy for their performances in television. There were 49 people of color nominated, including MJ Rodriguez, Michael K. Williams, Billy Porter, and more. But, none of them won in the acting categories.
Now, #EmmysSoWhite is sitting next to its ugly cousin #OscarsSoWhite, and celebs are speaking out about it, including rapper and business mogul 50 Cent.
“Listen, the Emmys still has a separate bathroom for colored folks,” 50 Cent wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post. “I’m gonna put the NAACP awards on the air at the same time and f*ck up their numbers. No, they really should be afraid of me I’m different.”
This isn’t the first time Fif has shared his opinion on the Emmys. Back in 2019, he expressed his disappointment in his hit series Power not receiving a nomination.
“The EMMY’S can kiss my Black ass in slow motion,” he wrote in a captioned photo showing his show’s ratings. “F*ck em I’m #1 they a bunch of Bengay my back hurt smelling ass old people anyway.”
