The family of beloved, late actor Anthony “AJ” Johnson says they struggle to pay for Johnson’s funeral.
Johnson’s wife, Lexis Jones Mason, says people have been showing her family “fake love” following the sudden passing of the comedic actor. The Johnson family started a GoFundMe to raise $20,000 to provide the actor with a proper burial. While many have reached out, Mason says their GoFundMe has only gained $800.
“I would not be asking if we had it. Or we had a policy,” said Mason. “There’s people that’s saying that they’re going to give money, we haven’t received it. If I look at [the GoFundMe] right now, it’s all out of pocket. Just to bury him and the funeral services alone will be close to [$15,000]. I asked for [$20,000]. I mean, I would give the kids, split it among the kids. There’s four. But, if it’s nothing left, it’s fine.”
Mason went on to say that she is hopeful that people will donate. However, if she can’t reach her goal, she may opt to have Johnson’s body cremated. Mason says that she will return to work immediately to pay for the cremation.
People whom have expensive funerals should have to pay for them on their own accord.
This guy should just be cremated to the tune of about $400 instead of a ridiculously expensive
funeral….why should others have to pay for this woman’s display of pomp and circumstance for his funeral? Absurd!
