A 22-year-old man was taken into custody Friday for his involvement in a mass shooting that took place outside of a Miami-Dade banquet hall over Memorial Day weekend.
Devonta Barnes is facing three counts of first-degree murder and 20 counts of attempted murder.
Police suspect Barnes acted as the lookout for the gunmen who ambushed patrons standing outside the El Mula Banquet Hall.
He was denied bond at a hearing Friday morning.
Desmond Owens and Clayton Dillard, both 26 years old died the night of the shooting. Shaniqua Peterson, 32, was hospitalized however succumbed to her injuries four days later. Twenty others were injured in the May 30th shooting.
Surveillance footage showed three masked gunmen hop out of a stolen white SUV before opening fire on the crowd gathered outside of the hall. The vehicle was later found in a canal.
Police say this was a coordinated attack that involved two vehicles and at least 5 gunmen. They believe the shooting stemmed from beef involving two groups.
