Two grieving sisters were shocked when they opened their mother’s casket and found a total stranger dressed in their mother’s clothing.
The women discovered the morbid mistake shortly before their mother’s viewing was set to being at Hunter’s Funeral Home in North Carolina on Sept. 7.
When Jennetta and her sister, Jennifer Taylor, told workers that the person in their mother’s casket was not their late mother, Mary Archer, the women claim the funeral home employees tried to convince them it was her.
“There’s no similarity in the person,” Jennetta Archer said about the mixup. “Their size was way off — when the first person had the clothing on, she was swimming in the clothing because she was so small compared to my mother.”
The funeral home didn’t admit to the mixup until Archer’s body was found in the embalming room.
