It must be something in the air because all this airline chaos is bananas. During a JetBlue flight on Wednesday, a man attempted to make his way into the cockpit.
A flight attendant told the FBI that the flight from Boston to San Juan was a little over an hour from landing when the suspect tried to make a phone call but became angry that the call was unsuccessful.
ABC News reported that he tried to reach the cockpit thirty minutes after the failed phone call, shouting in Spanish and Arabic to be shot.
Luckily, the flight attendant was able to corral the suspect back to the seating area.
Apparently, the disruptive passenger grabbed the flight attendant by the collar and tie with one hand while placing his other hand on the overhead compartment to try to get leverage. He then kicked the attendant in the chest.
He again shouted for the pilot to shoot him.
“While he was yelling, he was still holding the JetBlue flight attendant by their tie,” the affidavit said. “This resulted in the tie tightening and ultimately prevented the JetBlue flight attendant from breathing.
Other crew members were able to take control of the man with the use of flex cuffs. But the man broke free of them. The crew had to use four seatbelt extenders, a new pair of flex cuffs, and a necktie to restrain him to his seat.
The plane was able to land, and the suspect was arrested. He is facing felony charges for interfering with a flight crew.
