Social media influencer Jayda Cheaves was reportedly released after being arrested on gun charges in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Jayda Cheaves, and a member of her entourage, Gregory Wright, were allegedly charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. According to the Jamaica Gleaner, authorities allegedly found two guns and 15 bullets. On Monday, the two were about to take off from the Sangster Airport when officials found the weapons and bullets.
Cheaves’ party arrived in the country last week to celebrate her 24th birthday.
On Wednesday, Jamaica Gleaner reported that Wright and Cheaves were released but were ordered to pay a fine for the crimes committed. The two were slated to be leaving Wednesday as well.
“American social media sensation Jayda Cheaves and her entourage depart the St James Parish Court. Cheaves and Gregory Wright, a member of her traveling party, were charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. They have paid a fine and will be leaving today,” the news outlet tweeted.
Following her release, Cheaves took to her Instagram to say, “Thank you for all your concerns. We are good and out of court. It was an honest mistake and believe me when I say I learned my lesson. I had a ball over here best birthday ever.”
