A Minnesota man murdered his wife after she “laughed off” the idea that their teen daughter could be pregnant.
On Tuesday, 46-year-old Johnny Ray Aldridge of St. Paul called the police to his home after reportedly shooting his wife, Caitlin Aldridge, in the head after the two got into a disagreement about their 13-year-old daughter. According to Aldridge, his wife told him that their daughter might be pregnant, and he believed the woman was “prostituting” the teen, which ignited an argument, the New York Post reports.
“They tussled on the bed,” court documents state. “[Caitlin] laughed off his daughter being pregnant. [Her] response angered Aldridge so much he shot her once in the back of the head with the gun he kept beneath his pillow.”
When police asked the man why he shot his wife, he responded: “Because my daughter is pregnant and she had grown men coming doing crazy s–t to my daughter. Their daughter told officers that Aldridge “wasn’t himself” after he was shot in the hand back in June. Ever since then, he’s carried a gun out of fear.
“The girl said Aldridge gets mad, and it was hard on [Caitlin],” the court documents state. “Aldridge and [Caitlin] have been fighting over small stuff for the past few days.” The man and woman had been married for 10 years.
The news outlet reports that the daughter denied all claims about her being sexually solicited. She added that she’s never been sexually assaulted and that her father only started to believe that after she expressed how she was experiencing severe menstrual cramps the weekend prior. The teen also took a pregnancy, which came back negative.
Police charged Aldridge with second-degree murder. He’s currently being held on a $1 million bond and could serve up to 40 years in prison. He is set to appear in court on Thursday.
