An ophthalmologist has put the iPhone 13 Pro to the test using its Macro camera for eye exams.
Dr. Tommy Korn with Sharp Healthcare in San Diego, California, took to his LinkedIn to detail how he has used the phone’s high definition camera Macro mode to check a patient’s eye after a recent cornea transplant. The camera allowed Korn to see if the abrasion was healed. Korn uploaded sharp photos of the patient’s eye to demonstrate the camera’s clarity.
“Been using the iPhone 13 Pro Max for MACRO eye photos this week. Impressed. Will innovate patient eye care & telemedicine,” Korn wrote.
The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max’s macro shooting feature has been dubbed the lineup’s most substantial upgrade in its already impressive camera system. The Macro mode achieves ultra-close-up photos using computational photography rather than an extra lens or other components.
Other features include an updated battery with the most extended battery life of any other iPhone, an updated processor that significantly increases the speed, and IP68 waterproofing.
