Former Dunkin’ Donuts employee Corey Pujols wants a plea deal after he allegedly fatally punched an elderly customer who called him a racial slur earlier this year.
Pujols worked at a DD in Tampa and was charged with manslaughter following his confrontation with the 77-year-old man. The former employee told police that the customer was a regular and often “extremely rude.”
In May, Pujol’s punched the elderly man, who fell and hit his head. The man later succumbed to his injuries, The Daily Beast reported.
“We sent a resolution to Ms. Brown on August 25,” said Darrin Johnson. The details of the offer weren’t provided, but the prosecutor, Christine Brown suggested there may be a counteroffer on the table, Fox 31 News reported.
“I don’t think that’s a feasible request; however, it’s one that I need to discuss with the homicide committee,” explained Brown.
If there isn’t an agreement on the plea deal, Pujols faces up to 30 years in prison.
