The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has taken down its holiday safety recommendations.
This past weekend, the CDC released a list of safety precautions people should be following in the upcoming holiday season. However, it walked back its suggestions by removing them from its website on Monday.
“If celebrating indoors, bring in fresh air by opening windows and doors, if possible,” its holiday celebrations guidance states. “You can use a window fan in one of the open windows to blow air out of the window. This will pull fresh air in through the other open windows,” said the CDC in its statement, which has now been removed. It also stated that if you plan on gathering, keep the meetups limited to only your immediate family.
“Have an outdoor celebration with everyone at least 6 feet apart,” the previous statement read.
Dr. Anthony Fauci says the best way for everyone to stay safe during the holiday is to encourage more people to get vaccinated.
“The best way to assure we will be in good shape as we get into the winter would be to get more and more people vaccinated. That was misinterpreted as my saying we can’t spend Christmas with our families, which was absolutely not the case,” Fauci. “I will be spending Christmas with my family. I encourage people, particularly the vaccinated people who are protected, to have a good normal Christmas with your family,” Dr. Fauci said.
In the meantime, the CDC is tabling their guidelines for now. But, updates are soon to come.
