Police arrested a former NBA player for allegedly uploading fake COVID-19 test results.
Last week, officers from the Kauai Police Department arrested 34-year-old Lazar Hayward Jr. and 33-year-old Raven Randle after they were accused of uploading fake COVID-19 tests onto Hawaii’s Safe Travels portal, NBC 12 reports. The two flew from Los Angeles into the Lihue Airport.
Police say the two uploaded the fraudulent results in an attempt to evade having to quarantine. The uploaded documents were flagged and reported to Safe Travels officials, which led to Randle and Hayward’s arrest.
They’ve now been charged with unsworn falsification; they both were driven back to Lihue Airport, where they returned back to Los Angeles following their arrests. There are no details on a court date yet, but an investigation has been launched.
Hayward’s NBA career lasted for three years. He was drafted by the Washington Wizards initially. After that, he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, and he played one seeding with the Oklahoma Thunder.
