A Waffle House employee claims she had no other options after she was mocked on a viral video of her carrying a baby during her shift.
According to TMZ, Tiffany Clark was working a late shift at a South Carolina Waffle House last weekend when she received a call about a family emergency.
Octavia, the 4-month-old baby, is reportedly her deceased brother’s child. According to the baby’s grandmother, she needed Clark to take the baby because the child’s mother was being admitted to the hospital for mental illness at the time.
The only other alternative was for the baby to end up in child services’ custody, so Clark decided to take her to work, and she claims the footage isn’t quite as horrible as it appears.
Clark insists she was never cooking food with Octavia in her arms; instead, she was marking plates for servers. She also claims she was behind the counter only for the time captured on video.
After the video went viral, Clark received a call from her employer, and after explaining the incident, she was suspended for a week. She says she hasn’t heard from Waffle House since Monday but hopes to have her job still when all of this is over.
On a lighter note, Clark plans to become her niece’s legal guardian to provide Octavia with a happy environment while her mother gets the help she needs.
