Wendy Williams will not be hosting from her purple chair when The Wendy Williams Show when new episodes begin airing later this month. Due to health reasons, she will be taking more time off.

“Wendy continues to be under medical supervision and meets with her medical team daily. She is making progress but is experiencing serious complications as a direct result of Graves’ Disease and her thyroid condition,” the show announced Tuesday. “It has been determined that more time is needed before she is able to return to her live hosting duties.”

Instead, when the show begins airing new episodes on October 18, it will have guest hosts and panels at the helm. The statement said details on who will serve as guest hosts would be announced shortly.

“As soon as she’s ready, she will be back in her treasured purple chair,” the statement read.

It was previously reported that Williams was taken to a New York City hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. She was voluntarily admitted into the hospital last month.

Following her hospital stay, she battled a COVID-19 infection. Thankfully, she was asymptomatic.
