Client Kills Realtor Then Himself Because He Disliked His New Home

A beloved Virginia realtor died after one of his clients shot him because he was unhappy with his new home.

On Friday evening, the shocking ordeal unfolded when 84-year-old Albert Baglione phoned 911 and said, “I shot my realtor.” Portsmouth Police responded to the residence on Bolling Road, where they found Baglione armed. He told police he’d killed 41-year-old Søren Arn-Oelschlegel. The elderly man then went back into the home, and moments later, officers heard a single gunshot. Upon entering the house, they discovered both men dead.

A neighbor told police that Baglione purchased the home while in Alabama without seeing it and was unhappy with it once he arrived in Virginia. Arn-Oelschlegel, a real estate agent for Long & Foster, had never met Baglione but went to the home to see how he could help his out-of-state client feel more comfortable with his purchase. The neighbor said the man had just moved into the house the day prior.

Arn-Oelschlegel was loved within the community for his volunteer work with the LGBTQ nonprofit Hampton Roads Pride. He worked with the organization for over ten years. On Tuesday, they held a candlelight vigil for him in Norfolk.

“The LGBTQ community of Hampton Roads has lost a vibrant person who’s hard to replace,” said Hampton Roads Pride president Rudy Almanzor.
