An Arizona couple welcomed a 14-pound baby boy on October 11, following multiple heartbreaking miscarriages.Â
Cary and Tim Patonai said baby Finnley was born two weeks at about double the size of an average newborn. He measured 23.75 inches and is wearing clothing made for babies between six and nine months.
“Finnley was a little celebrity at the hospital. Everyone wanted a selfie with him,” Cary told TODAY Parents. “The OB/GYN who performed the C-section said that in 27 years, he had never seen a newborn that size. There was so much excitement in the delivery.”
Doctors estimate that if the baby had been born on his due date, he would weigh about 16.6 pounds.Â
The Patonai’s were overjoyed by the birth of baby Finnley after experiencing a series of heartbreaking miscarriages. They had been trying for a year, with two pregnancies ending in miscarriages. Cary also experienced 17 miscarriages before her second son, Everett, 2. The couple also shares son Devlen, 10.
She revealed that two miscarriages were sets of twins, which she called “traumatic for the whole family.”Â
Cary says Finnley is a miracle baby, calling him “perfect.”
