Two Children Killed, Eight Others Injured During Deadly Drag Racing Crash In Texas

Two children were killed, and eight others were injured at a drag racing event in Texas on Saturday when a driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a crowd of spectators.

The Kerrville Police Department said two young boys, ages 6 and 8, died after the vehicle crashed during a popular event called “Airport Race Wars 2” that attracted thousands of spectators to the Kerrville-Kerr County airport.

Authorities said a driver was speeding down the runway when he lost control at around 3:20 in the afternoon, sending his car crashing into parked vehicles and striking onlookers who were observing the races.

Four victims, aged 26 to 46, were airlifted to nearby hospitals from the scene.  According to police sources, one victim, a 46-year-old woman, was taken to University Medical Center and remains in critical condition.

Two other children who were also injured, a 4-year-old boy and a three-month-old baby girl, were transported to Peterson Regional Medical Center for evaluations.

The 34-year-old driver, who has not been identified, was taken to San Antonio Medical Center and is currently listed in stable condition.
