Whew, chile! The final season of Insecure premiered last night, and it already has sparked some controversy on the internet.
Specifically, some members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. are not happy with Amanda Seales’ character Tiffany dawning pink and green and representing the sorority in the show without Seales being a member of in real life.
While many members were seemingly upset, other Twitter users came to Seales’ defense to remind them that it’s just a show. And, of course, Amanda Seales shadily responded to remind people that she was just there to do her job: “I didn’t write the character–I play the character! I’m not a soror–I’m an actress!”

All I’m saying is, Amanda Seales gotta wear itchy pantyhose and pay $1400 like everybody else! pic.twitter.com/Yd6uDvbIxc

there is a 0% chance that hbo violated the AKA trademark. yall either mad at your higher ups or mad cuz you don't like the character and/or the actress who portrays her. 🌚

part of me does wish that they would've created a fictional sorority for the sake of the show. the other part of me does not really care either way because it's *just* a fictional show.

The show’s creator Issa Rae caught wind of the controversy and joked that she’ll ask HBO to delete an upcoming episode after a fan asked her not to allow Seales’ character to wear AKA regalia again.
