A shooting at a Halloween party in Texarkana, Texas, has killed one person and injured nine others.
Cops responded to reports of a shooting at Octavia’s Event Center on Texas Boulevard just before midnight, where they “encountered a large number of people running from the building and several inside suffering from gunshot wounds,” the Texarkana Police Department said in a statement.
A 20-year-old man who was hit was taken to a local hospital, where he died. His identity is being withheld until family can be notified.
Nine other people were also injured, but authorities said their injuries were not life-threatening.
“While the motive is still unknown, the preliminary investigation indicates that it may (have) been the result of some type of disturbance among some the partygoers,” police said.
The suspect fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.
