Superman fans were so outraged that their favorite superhero came out as bisexual that creators asked police to be extra vigilant after the amount of backlash they received.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that LAPD officers were dispatched to patrol the homes of some of the illustrators and production staff behind the comic. After receiving threats, the studios called LAPD to request extra patrols around the artists’ residences and the studios.
Thankfully nothing has come from any of the threats so far, but police took precautions and kept an eye out. The outlet reports that the situation has calmed down.
DC announced on National Coming Out Day that the latest Superman, Jon Kent, the son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, will begin a relationship with a male friend. The storyline will center around Kent’s relationship with reporter Jay Nakamura. Drawings of the two kissing were released, sparking outrage from fans.
