A Houston doctor who went viral because she promoted Hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for COVID–19 was reprimanded by the Texas Medical Board.
Dr. Stella Immanuel became an internet spectacle after former president Donald Trump retweeted her. Immanuel shared some alarming thoughts on diseases she said were caused by sex with demons and her claims that she treated “hundreds” of patients with Hydroxychloroquine.
The Texas Medical Board fined her $500 and orders to submit proof of consent from patients after explaining the side effects and risks of unproven treatment methods.
The FDA has been critical of the controversial drug, saying there is “no benefit for decreasing the likelihood of death or speeding recovery.”
