Houston Police Chief Troy Finner has confirmed at least one person was injected with something via needle — and there well may have been more.
Chief Finner said the victim was a security guard who was working the event. The guard felt a prick in his neck by an unknown assailant while trying to restrain a citizen. He quickly fell unconscious, TMZ reported.
Finner says the guard was revived with NARCAN and medical personnel said they did see something on his neck that indicated he’d been stabbed with a syringe.
Finner also stated that some people had been trampled, and it appears there is confusion on what caused the panic, which left people injured/passing out.
The total number of people who’ve passed away stands at 8. Autopsies are underway to determine the causes of death.
Mayor Sylvester Turner says the city has never experienced anything like this and is determined to determine what happened.
Live Nation and Travis Scott’s camp are cooperating with authorities as the investigation continues, and officials have called on the public’s help for those with legit information.
One last thing Houston authorities confirm the concert was shut down promptly, after the first reports of people “going down” occurred around 9:30 PM. They shut down at around 10:10 PM, a time they felt was efficient considering the circumstances.
