Kevin Garnett

Basketball legend Kevin Garnett addresses a long-running rumor that he made offensive comments towards La La Anthony eight years ago.

Since 2013, the Hall-Of-Famer has been at the center of a scandal, which claimed he told Carmelo Anthony that his now ex-wife La La Anthony tasted like Honey Nut Cheerios. The alleged comments took place when the NBA All-Stars faced off during a Boston Celtics-New York Knicks game. However, when speaking with GQ, Garnett maintains that he has never “said anything to Melo about La La.”

Garnett joked, “I’m a Frosted Flakes man. I’m not a Honey Nut Cheerios guy. I never knew where that came from. Let me clear that up.”

At the time, Knicks reporter Ian Begley said in a tweet that Melo told him “there’s some things as men that you just don’t say” when asked what Garnett said to upset him.

Melo on what KG said to get under his skin: there's some things as men that you just don't say. #knicks

It remains unclear how the lie started, but the “Power” actress herself has spoken up in her book and confirmed that it indeed never happened.

“I tried to figure out how this big lie was turned into a media firestorm. I still can’t answer that one,” La La wrote before confirming that the men have moved past it and are friends today.

Carmelo has not responded publicly to Garnett’s revelation.
