A Georgia family had a terrifying incident after their 1-year-old went missing. Luckily, he was found safe a day and a half later and returned safely to his family.
Deonna Bray, the mother of Blaise, 1, was reunited with her son Thursday after he was allegedly taken from her while inside her car on Wednesday morning, according to ABC 7.
The mother told authorities her car was taken, and the perpetrator drove away with her son inside, PEOPLE reported.
The car and baby were taken from a parking lot near Bray’s home while she and Blaise’s father, Xavier Barnett, were unloading groceries from the car into their apartment around early Wednesday morning in Clarkston, Georgia.
Bray’s 2002 Ford Explorer was retrieved late Wednesday, but Blaise was not inside.
With her son still missing late Wednesday night, Bray told ABC she was “covered in emotions,” explaining, “I’ve never been away from him like this where I don’t know where he’s at, so I’m hurt … Bring him back safely and unharmed in the quickest way possible.”
The mother’s prayers were answered on Thursday when a Clarkston woman called police to report she saw Blaise inside of a car in her driveway and had brought him inside her home, according to ABC 7.
The unidentified woman wasn’t sure how he got in the vehicle, according to Channel 2 Action News, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Following a medical evaluation, Blaise was determined healthy and given back over to his parents.
“I instantly started crying,” Bray told Good Morning America after hearing Blaise was safe. “A rush of happiness,” she added. “I was speechless.”
“He was like, ‘we got him,’ and I was like, ‘you got him?’ And everybody was just like screaming. I started crying. I just knew, now I know my baby is safe,” she added.
The case remains active and remains under investigation.
