Two well-known brands, Starbucks and Amazon, have teamed up to create a new high-tech cafe in New York City that will cater to customers in a rush—or, for those who want a state-of-the-art workspace.
These new “Starbucks Pickup” cafes will have the “order ahead” option on both the Starbucks app and Amazon Go’s “Just Walk Out” feature, which makes payments easier than ever, Delish reported.
What’s even better is that Starbucks will still offer its full menu of beverages and bakery items available, as well as a selection of other food and drinks from the Amazon Go market, which may include Amazon’s salads, protein bars, hot sandwiches, sushi, and even food from local NYC vendors like Ess-a-Bagel and Magnolia Bakery.
Customers will be able to see their order status on an overhead board if they’ve ordered a beverage ahead of time when they walk into the store. From there, they’ll use the “In-Store Code” in the Amazon Shopping app, Amazon One, or a credit card to enter into the marketplace and lounge. The Amazon Just Walk Out technology will pick up any items a customer purchased from the market and charge it to their Amazon account, which means there will be no need to wait at the check-out counter.
On top of being a quick place to grab a coffee, the cafes are also designed to function as workplaces for those looking to meet with friends or if they want to get some work done outside the home. The seated areas will have power outlets and USB ports as well.
The first Starbucks Pickup with Amazon Go location will be located on 59th St between Park Ave and Lexington Ave in Manhattan and will open at the end of 2022. Two more locations are expected to open around New York City.
