The tragic murder of rapper Young Dolph has had a powerful and painful impact on the employees at Memphis’s Makeda’s Cookies, but thankfully, bosses are providing support to them.
Adolph was gunned down at the cookie shop, and store owners Maurice and Pamela Hill told TMZ that the three staffers working that day were traumatized, distraught, and in disbelief.
Maurice and Pamela say they are allowing the employees to take time off until they feel good enough to come back to work, and they will remain on the payroll.
None of the employees working were hurt in the shooting. Evidence suggests that the gunman targeted Dolph, who was a native of Memphis and a frequent customer. They also say he was on his cellphone when the gunmen pulled up and started shooting.
The Hills are grieving and praying for his family.
A makeshift memorial has been created outside the store, which is now boarded up. Pamela says they’re not sure when the store will reopen because they’re taking time to let the community grieve the loss of the rapper.
There was another shooting Thursday that was not far from the store. It sent mourners running from the makeshift memorial.
